Frequently asked questions
Practical answers about checks, reports, your workspace and public profiles.
Getting started
What can I use ProofRank for?
Use ProofRank to check a website’s public-facing technical quality, understand specific findings and decide what to improve next. You can also browse projects that have completed the separate publication review. A private check and a public listing serve different purposes.
How do I analyze a website?
Enter a public website address in Analyze and complete the anti-abuse check. ProofRank starts the supported checks and opens a private report when they finish. Use the main website address, not a signed-in page, private dashboard or URL containing a password or access token.
Do I need an account to run a check?
You can run a supported website check without creating a ProofRank account. Your browser receives access to that private report. An account is needed for features such as submitting a project for review, claiming a published profile and managing an owner workspace.
Why can’t I open an old report or share its link?
Private report access is tied to the browser that requested it and has an expiry. A link alone does not grant access. Clearing cookies, changing browsers or using an expired link can make a report unavailable; run a fresh analysis from the browser you want to use.
Understanding a report
What does a website check include?
The current check examines supported signals in the public response and page markup, including SEO, accessibility, delivery, security, privacy and trust indicators. Open a finding to see what was observed. These checks help identify useful next steps, but do not replace a full manual accessibility or security audit.
Why did a check fail or show unavailable data?
A website may block automated access, restrict crawling through robots.txt, redirect unexpectedly, time out or return a response that cannot be checked safely. Missing evidence is not proof that a feature is absent. Confirm the address, review the explanation and try again later if the problem is temporary.
Why can results change between checks?
The page response, redirects, server settings or page content can change. Different checks may also use a newer methodology. Compare the dates and supporting evidence before drawing conclusions; an improvement in a technical signal does not guarantee a change in search traffic or rankings.
Does ProofRank provide live backlinks, search traffic or AI visibility?
Those external datasets are not connected in the current preview. AI Visibility currently lets verified owners prepare a private prompt plan, not run live checks. A saved question, language or competitor list is not a measured mention, citation or ranking. Features marked planned are not active services.
How should I choose what to fix first?
Start with the findings that affect access to the page or have a clear, actionable explanation. Read the evidence before changing your website, test the change yourself and run another check afterward. Your workspace can compare supported technical findings when suitable comparable scans exist.
Profiles, ownership and reviews
Does analyzing a site publish it in rankings?
No. An analysis creates a private report. Public discovery requires a separate project submission, technical qualification and manual review. Only eligible published profiles appear in search, categories and rankings.
How do I submit my project?
Sign in, open Submit Project and provide the website address, project name, category and a useful short description. Check any suggested details before sending them. A free submission adds the Featured on ProofRank badge to its site and checks it before sending; Pro, Spotlight and Priority Review skip it. You can follow your submission in the workspace and respond if the reviewer requests more information.
How long will a review take?
Review timing depends on reviewer availability, the current workload and whether your submission needs more information. Use the status shown for your submission rather than assuming a fixed deadline. A paused estimate or pending review does not mean the project has been rejected.
Is claiming a profile the same as submitting it?
No. Submission requests editorial review; claiming separately proves that you control the domain. For an eligible published profile, follow the DNS, meta-tag or HTML-file instructions in the claim flow. Being signed in or knowing a domain name is not proof of ownership.
Why is my project missing from Discover?
It may not have been submitted, may still be under review, may need more information or may not currently meet publication requirements. Search only includes published, eligible profiles. Check your submission status; use Report a problem if you believe a published profile is missing or incorrectly categorized.
Can I correct a profile or dispute a finding?
Use Report a problem and choose the closest issue type. Include the affected page or domain, what looks wrong and the evidence needed to reproduce it. Reporting an issue opens a review case; it does not automatically change a score, transfer ownership or remove a listing.
Discovery and community
How do the launch periods and upvotes work?
Daily, weekly, monthly and yearly cover the past 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days and 365 days. New launches are projects first published on ProofRank in that period, not a claim about when the product was originally created. Active upvotes cast in that period determine launch exposure; ties use publication time and a stable project order. Each account can cast one vote per project. Votes unlock 24 hours after account creation, and removing and restoring a vote does not refresh its original date.
Do upvotes change the website score?
No. Upvotes affect discovery exposure, not technical measurements or the measured rankings. Most Viewed counts unique signed-in readers of a public project profile during the selected period. Repeated visits by one account do not increase that period’s reader count.
Where do alternatives and product updates come from?
Alternative pairs are reviewed recommendations between published projects, with a reason for the comparison. Looking for an alternative is an explicit action on a project page; the aggregate is not an estimate of external search demand. Recently updated apps shows reviewed release notes from verified owners, not every automated rescan.
Can I publish a product story with images?
Yes. Sign in, verify your project ownership and open Community → Write a story. The block editor supports paragraphs, headings, quotes, lists, HTTPS links and static images. Save a private draft before adding images. Your project must have a published profile before the article can enter review. Articles and release notes become public only after a separate review.
Can I change or remove my article?
You can edit private drafts and articles returned for changes. Submitted and published articles cannot be changed in place; this prevents unreviewed edits from becoming public. Open Your articles in the writing page to withdraw an article. Withdrawal removes public access but does not erase the stored record. For a new update, create another article.
Accounts, plans and help
How do passkeys and recovery work?
A passkey signs you in using your device or password manager; ProofRank does not receive its private key. Keep your recovery codes somewhere safe and private. Sign-in options shown as unavailable are not configured yet. Never paste a passkey secret, recovery code or password into a report.
What are the current plan prices?
Free has no subscription charge. Pro is $19.99 a month or $199.99 a year, and Spotlight is $59.99 a month or $599.99 a year: paying yearly gives you 2 months free. Paid plans are not open for purchase yet.
Can a paid plan improve my public score?
No. A plan concerns access to the features and capacity it offers, not a purchased technical result. Measured findings and organic ranking eligibility are separate from any clearly labeled promotional placement. Check the plan’s actual availability before relying on a planned feature.
How do I report a bug, accessibility barrier or privacy concern?
Open Report a problem, select the issue type and explain what happened. For a bug, include the page, device or browser, the steps to reproduce it and what you expected. Keep the confirmation reference. The form is private case intake, not a public comment, live chat or emergency service.
What should I leave out of a report?
Do not include passwords, recovery codes, payment-card numbers, access tokens, private customer records or exploit payloads. Use public URLs and a minimal explanation. If reporting a security concern, describe the location and likely impact without accessing another person’s data or carrying out a destructive test.
Still need help? Report a problem with the relevant page and a short explanation.
